This will prevent large-scale blackouts and enhance Mumbai’s power network resilience. The entire 100 MW system will be installed in the next two years across 10 strategically located sites, especially near load centres across Mumbai Distribution, centrally monitored and controlled from Tata Power’s Power System Control Center.
It will protect essential services including the Mumbai Metro, hospitals, airports, and data centers from large-scale blackouts. The system is also designed to optimize reactive power management, improve peak demand efficiency, and reinforce the city’s overall electricity infrastructure.
MUMBAI: Tata Power 's much-awaited 1,800 MW pumped hydro storage plant at Shirawata in Pune district and another 1,000 MW PSP at Bhivpuri in Raigad district secured the requisite approvals and clearances, a senior official said.
